Figure (a) compares the experimental metal flow lines with predicted ones generated by an automatic three-stage hot-forging of bearing parts, in which product quality critically depends on the soundness of the metal flow lines. Figure (b) shows the internal cracks of the product with their possible causes easily inferred by the metal flow lines and temperature distribution.
